In this self-paced course you will learn an easy approach to capture emotions using facial expressions. The illustration skills shared appeal to any characters and markets, although in the examples shown I am using human facial features that are tailored to the children’s book market.

The course starts of by teaching you the basics of constructing head shapes for adult and children characters. As it is important to show your charcters from various angles, tilting the head is part of the course to. From that we move on to facial features and exploring these in order to give you the means to design your very own characters.

After all the necessary “ground work” is done to draw and design your own heads we tap into emotion and cover the most important facial expressions to give you and your characters the means to “act out” a story.

The PDF worksheet provides you with exercises to practice and explore all the covered topics step by step. I encourage you to do each exercise right after you have watched the respective chapter in the video in order to put what you have learned right to practice.
